Total Hip Replacement: January 6, 2001

Luke was a “K9” member of the Franklin Police Department. He developed Hip Dysplasia and needed Hip Replacement surgery in order to be able to continue work. It was brought to Dr. Murphie’s attention, and he volunteered to perform the surgery at no expense. Dr. Murphie has been overwhelmed by the positive response he has received concerning Luke.

Vertebral Subluxation: April 2, 2002

Jake Williams, a 2 year old black lab, presented to Dr. Murphie after unfortunately being hit by a car. He had loss of neurological function in both rear legs, and a L1 – L2 vertebral subluxation was noted on the in the pre-surgical x-rays.

A bone plate was placed on the vertebral bodies to facilitate a more anatomic alignment. Initially Jake had little to no neurological function post operatively, so a cart was built to allow him to navigate. Jake later gained enough neurologic function to ambulate without the aid of the cart.
