Please call our number (757) 566-2224 if you suspect your pet may need emergency treatment. There is always a doctor on call to answer any questions that you may have.

The field of emergency and critical care medicine and surgery has grown substantially over the years. The veterinarians at Anderson’s Corner Animal Hospital have the knowledge and tools to treat a wide variety of emergency situations. Dr. Robb has received training at a critical care hospital in Virginia Beach, and is also a member of the Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society.

Anderson’s Corner Animal Hospital

We not only have specialized critical care diagnostic equipment, but we also supply specialized products and medications for emergency situations. A few of the products and treatment modalities that we supply for these situations are as follows:

  • Oxygen cages and nasal tubes
  • Mechanical ventilators
  • Blood products and cross matching kits
  • Chest tubes to facilitate removal of fluid or air from compressing the lungs
  • Indwelling pediatric tubes for blocked cats
  • Central venous catheters
  • Feeding tubes
  • Nebulizers

We may see a wide variety of emergencies on a daily basis. Emergencies can essentially involve any organ system of the body. Just a few examples of emergency situations are heat stroke, toxin ingestion, lacerations, trauma, metabolic emergencies, foreign bodies, bleeding disorders, dystocia, burns, etc. We cannot stress strongly enough that if you think that your pet may be having a medical emergency, please call us immediately, no matter what time of the day or night. At the very least, we hope to be able to provide you with peace of mind should we feel your pet is not in danger.

Walk-in emergencies are always welcome. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

  • If after hours, we may need to refer you to a critical care hospital that we have an established relationship with.
  • There are some occasions where we will recommend transport to a critical care hospital. This may be for further specialized diagnostics and/or 24 hour monitoring.
  • Ambulatory Transport – We offer this service to transport a critical patient or for house calls.
