X-Ray/Ultrasound/Endoscopy

Digital X-Ray

We use a digital x-ray system that allows for instantaneous results along with extremely high detail. When needed, we can also utilize web-based sharing of images for second opinion interpretation. A CD copy can be made available to you to take home for viewing on a personal computer.

• Contrast Studies – Our digital x-ray system makes it easier for us to utilize contrast media. Contrast media, when administered to a patient, allows assessment of the size, position, shape and internal architecture of an organ that would not be apparent on the original x-ray. This can be utilized for conditions involving the gastrointestinal tract, urogenital tract, liver, Myelography of the spine, sinuses, etc.

Ultrasound

Our ultrasound machine allows us to further evaluate internal organs to aid in finding a diagnosis, perform ultrasound guided biopsies if a tissue sample is needed, echocardiography, diagnose early pregnancy, etc. We may even transmit these stored images for second opinion interpretation.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy allows for visual examination of some internal organs. We can also obtain biopsies of tissue to aid with diagnosis. Some of the forms of endoscopy that we may perform are the following:

• GI Endoscopy – examination of the esophagus, stomach, and upper intestines
• Colonoscopy – examination of the large bowel/colon
• Rhinoscopy – examination of the nasal cavity
• Cystoscopy – examination of the bladder and lower urinary and reproductive tract

Video Otoscopy

This machine is basically “endoscopy for the ear canal.” This allows us to identify and remove tumors/polyps in the ear canal, evaluate the integrity of the ear drum, take biopsies, flush out an infected middle ear/bulla, etc.
