The veterinarian uses a needle to implant the device under the skin between the shoulders. This is a very quick and easy procedure, much like a vaccine. The tiny chip stays in place, and remains active for life. If your pet every gets lost, shelters, veterinary hospitals, and many other pet-related organizations carry scanners that will detect your pet’s unique code. This code is then called into the national database, and your contact information will subsequently be displayed. This can also allow for prompt emergency care if your pet is recovered and taken by a Good Samaritan for emergency treatment.
